At our end of term concert for family and friends we will be showcasing our repertoire and singing Christmas songs
This was a lovely event last year, so let’s try for an even larger group of singers this year
The new term began on Thursday 20th September 2018. The choir is such a positive and enjoyable experience that all the members from the previous term wished to re-join, which means that the choir is currently running at capacity. There were several very enthusiastic people wishing to join but unfortunately we have had to ask them to join a waiting list. Judy Matthews, the membership secretary will keep those people informed of any vacancies. Anyone wishing to discuss joining can contact her by email: email@example.com
The details of this concert are on the Members’ Area
The group taking attending this event will be part of a choir of 400 voices. The event will help to raise money for WaterAid. All the relevant details of this event are in the Members Area. Donations from choir members, their family and friends can be made via the Just giving page.

The AGM will take place immediately after the choir session on 5th July.
Wendy will be offering an additional workshop for anyone who is singing at the Sing4Water event to practise What the World Needs Now is Love. Details in the Members’ Area
Advance notice – please keep this date clear! We have been invited to perform at the street fair on the Sunday morning. David in the basses will be coordinating this event and will provide more information in due course.
This will be an informal fun event for family and friends to join the choir for the evening. Refreshments will be available. Choir members and their guests are invited, if they wish, to Wear a Hat in aid of Brain Tumour Research for which we will be collecting money during the course of the evening
Claire led us so enthusiastically and conducted with such clarity and verve that we were able to show the audience what a splendid sound we can make. It was very enjoyable and we all felt we had done well. The list of songs we performed were:
Somlandela, Sing John Ball, Tebe Poem, Hallelujah, Tres Hojitas Madre and Ke Arona
In support of the Blackdown Hills AONB we joined the magical evening of candles, bonfire, mince pies and Christmas Carols Under the Stars at Wellington Monument. The weather was cold, but right for the time of year with even a smattering of snow as choir members made their way back to their cars.
It was Claire’s first outside event with the choir and what a splendid job she made of it, including a special mention for her magnificent light-up gloves!
Unusually there was not a friends and family concert to mark the end of term and showcase all the songs we have learnt together. Instead, this term the last session was held next door in the main hall where after our usual practice session the choir enjoyed a splendid buffet to which all members contributed. Claire was presented with a bouquet of flowers in appreciation of the hard work and enthusiasm she has given to make her first term so successful.
After the last session before the midterm break we will retire across the road to the Green Dragon and have a social sip of whatever takes your fancy. A great chance to meet and mingle with all those other choir members you see each week across the hall but so seldom get the time to talk to. Your chance to put a person behind the voice!
Taster Session: Thursday 21st September at 19:15
If you want to see what we are all about do come along to this Taster Session when the Choir meets for the first time under their new musical leader Claire Stronach.
Taster sessions are gentle introductions with easy to pick-up songs as we all settle back into singing together and start to learn which songs we will be singing during the term ahead.
Thursdays at 19:30 from 21st September through to 7th December with mid-term break on 26th October
Our regular choir sessions are held at Baptist Centre, South Road, Wellington, TA21 8NS and finish at 21:15.
