Blackdown Choir Singing

Welcome to Blackdown Community Choir

The choir meets for the pleasure and joy of sharing music together.

It is for everyone, irrespective of musical knowledge or experience. There are no auditions!

It is for people who love singing but can’t read music or for singers looking to sing an exciting range of songs in a relaxed group.

Singing in the choir is fun, good for your health and takes away the stresses of the week,

Our members are from Wellington and  Taunton and the surrounding villages in the Blackdown Hills. Some members come from  the Quantock Hills, West Somerset, East or Mid Devon.

Singing with Blackdown Community Choir offers the experience to be part of the wonderful sound of unaccompanied harmony singing!

The choir is an open access choir to all over 16 – beginners and experienced singers alike – a friendly group who enjoy listening to  and learning songs from around the world – folk, gospel, pop, African, Georgian – as well as traditional songs from these shores. The choir is not a performance choir, we sing for fun but we do give some performances for family and friends. We occasionally contribute to other events and occasions, principally to raise money for good causes. We have been involved in exchange workshops with choirs from other parts of the country, making new friends and learning new songs. There have been some opportunities to join with other choirs to sing, most recently in Spain.

Let us know by emailing judymatthewsbc@gmail.com if you would like to come to one of our taster sessions which we have at the beginning of each term.  There is more information about this on the ‘Join’ page.

All you need to bring is your voice and enthusiasm….
